organ

The organ was a late arrival in Andrew's interests. He had received piano lessons from Les Watts from the age of eleven, but did not take up the organ until given an organ scholarship under Dr John Harrison at St. Mary's Church in Tenby aged fifteen.

Distracted by school examinations, and with extensive committements as a 'cellist, his learning was not fast, until he took a 'gap year' expressly to increase his dexterity at the instrument, with a view to a Cambridge organ scholarship. This drive began in June 2002, and by September, he had reached a standard sufficient to win him the Organ Scholarship at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Over the next four years he developed an extensive repertoire, and gave a significant number of recitals and performances. Most recently, he gave an exceptionally well attended recital at St. John's College, Cambridge; and another at St. Mary's Church in Tenby, where he is now the Assistant Director of Music.

He recently appeared in an article about Oxbridge organ scholars in the journal, The American Organist.
